| Hadith on Fasting: Permission to perform voluntary fasts without having intention first Posted: 16 Jul 2013 04:54 AM PDT Aisha reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me one day, "O Aisha, do you have anything?" She said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have nothing." The Prophet said, "Verily, then I am fasting." | Hadith on Ablution: Sniff water deep into your nose unless you are fasting Posted: 16 Jul 2013 04:00 AM PDT Laqit ibn Sabirah reported: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, tell me about ablution." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Perform ablution well. Clean the base of your fingers and sniff water deep into your nose unless you are fasting." Source: Sunan At-Tirmidhi 788 Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to At-Tirmidhi قَال سَمِعْتُ عَاصِمَ بْنَ لَقِيطِ بْنِ صَبِرَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَخْبِرْنِي عَنْ الْوُضُوءِ قَالَ أَسْبِغْ الْوُضُوءَ وَخَلِّلْ بَيْنَ الْأَصَابِعِ وَبَالِغْ فِي الِاسْتِنْشَاقِ إِلَّا أَنْ تَكُونَ صَائِمًا 788 سنن الترمذي كِتَاب الصَّوْمِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَاب مَا جَاءَ فِي كَرَاهِيَةِ مُبَالَغَةِ الِاسْتِنْشَاقِ لِلصَّائِمِ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ |

| Hadith on Fasting: The Prophet would break his fast with dates and water Posted: 15 Jul 2013 07:28 AM PDT Anas ibn Malik reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would break his fast before praying with fresh dates, and if there were no fresh dates then with dry dates, and if there were no dry dates then with some water. Source: Sunan At-Tirmidhi 696 Grade: Hasan (fair) according to At-Tirmidhi عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُفْطِرُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ عَلَى رُطَبَاتٍ فَإِنْ لَمْ تَكُنْ رُطَبَاتٌ فَتُمَيْرَاتٌ فَإِنْ لَمْ تَكُنْ تُمَيْرَاتٌ حَسَا حَسَوَاتٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ 696 سنن الترمذي كِتَاب الصَّوْمِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إذا أفطر أحدكم فليفطر على تمر قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ |
