| Hadith on Clothing: The Prophet's manners and supplication putting on new clothes Posted: 19 Jul 2013 07:07 AM PDT Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri reported: When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, wore a new garment he would name it, for instance, a turban or a shirt or a cloak, and the Prophet would say, "O Allah, praise is for you that you have dressed me with it. I ask you for its goodness and the goodness for which it was made. I seek refuge in you from its evil and the evil for which it was made." Source: Sunan At-Tirmidhi 1767 Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to At-Tirmidhi عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا اسْتَجَدَّ ثَوْبًا سَمَّاهُ بِاسْمِهِ عِمَامَةً أَوْ قَمِيصًا أَوْ رِدَاءً ثُمَّ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ كَسَوْتَنِيهِ أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهُ وَخَيْرَ مَا صُنِعَ لَهُ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهِ وَشَرِّ مَا صُنِعَ لَهُ 1767 سنن الترمذي كِتَاب اللِّبَاسِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَاب مَا يَقُولُ إِذَا لَبِسَ ثَوْبًا جَدِيدًا قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ صَحِيحٌ |
| Hadith on Humility: Allah will reward those who abandon fancy, expensive clothing Posted: 19 Jul 2013 06:57 AM PDT Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Whoever gives up fine clothing out of humility for Allah while he is able to wear them, then Allah will call him on the Day of Resurrection in front of all His creation and He will allow him to choose whichever garment of faith he desires." Source: Sunan At-Tirmidhi 2481 Grade: Hasan (fair) according to At-Tirmidhi عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ مُعَاذِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ تَرَكَ اللِّبَاسَ تَوَاضُعًا لِلَّهِ وَهُوَ يَقْدِرُ عَلَيْهِ دَعَاهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رُءُوسِ الْخَلَائِقِ حَتَّى يُخَيِّرَهُ مِنْ أَيِّ حُلَلِ الْإِيمَانِ شَاءَ يَلْبَسُهَا 2481 سنن الترمذي كِتَاب صِفَةِ الْقِيَامَةِ وَالرَّقَائِقِ وَالْوَرَعِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ البناء كله وبال قلت أرأيت ما لا بد منه قال لا أجر ولا وزر قال أبو عيسى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ |
| Hadith on Pride: Allah will punish those who wear clothing for fame and arrogance Posted: 19 Jul 2013 06:47 AM PDT Abdullah ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Whoever wears a garment out of vanity, Allah will make him wear a garment of humiliation on the Day of Resurrection and then He will set it ablaze with fire." | Hadith on Supplication: The Prophet's supplication for meals and clothing Posted: 19 Jul 2013 06:21 AM PDT Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Whoever eats a meal and then says: All praise is due to Allah who has fed me this food and provided for me without any power or strength from myself, then he will be forgiven his past and future sins. Whoever wears a new garment and then says: All praise is due to Allah who has clothed me with this garment and provided for me without any power for strength from myself, then he will be forgiven his past and future sins." | Hadith on Supplication: The Prophet would seek refuge in Allah before using the lavatory Posted: 19 Jul 2013 05:58 AM PDT Anas ibn Malik reported: When the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, entered the washroom he would say, "O Allah, I seek refuge in you from wicked and noxious things." | Hadith on Praise: Supplication for going to bed and waking up in the morning Posted: 19 Jul 2013 04:37 AM PDT Abu Dharr reported: When the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would go to sleep at night he would say, "In the name of Allah we die and we live." When the Prophet woke up he would say, "All praise is due to Allah who has given us life after our death and to Him is the resurrection." Source: Sahih Bukhari 6960 Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Bukhari عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَخَذَ مَضْجَعَهُ مِنْ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ بِاسْمِكَ نَمُوتُ وَنَحْيَا فَإِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ قَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ 6960 صحيح البخاري كِتَاب التَّوْحِيدِ اللهم باسمك أحيا وأموت وإذا أصبح قال الحمد لله الذي أحيانا بعد ما أماتنا وإليه النشور |
| Hadith on Trust: Supplication for leaving the house and protection from Satan Posted: 19 Jul 2013 04:27 AM PDT Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Whoever says when he leaves his house: In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah for there is no power or might but with Allah; then it will be said to him that you have been sufficed and protected, and the devils will be distant from him." Source: Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3426 Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to At-Tirmidhi عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ قَالَ يَعْنِي إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ يُقَالُ لَهُ كُفِيتَ وَوُقِيتَ وَتَنَحَّى عَنْهُ الشَّيْطَانُ 3426 سنن الترمذي كِتَاب الدَّعَوَاتِ بَاب مَا جَاءَ مَا يَقُولُ إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ |
